Over 4's

The Over 2 programme is child led, with planning for activities based on the needs or interest of individual children. Common themes of interest form the basis for any group focus.

Staff work with parents to promote children's growing independance.We try to ensure that there is a staff member available to talk to families about their children's day as required.

What is happening in the Over 2's?

There are a number of interests in the over 2 room at the moment which has created some very busy times.
The main focus is "creativity" of which pottery has a prime place at the moment. Rob has been making clay bowls with the children, which are being fired by a local potter.

"Kapahaka" has also been a mini interest. The children and teachers went to visit the Melville High Kapahaka group after showing interest in the Haka and other Maori dances. Easter then brought in her dance things from Tuvalu and Anisa , her Cambodian dance things, this has lead to a small interest in Cultural dance.

The garden continues to create interest as the children notice the changes and new growth and the worm farm continues to thrive.

Big Kids Programme
As children come closer to starting school, they require some time to acquire additional skills to prepare themselves for the next step in their journey.

At Jack and Jill Educare we provide a developmentally appropriate programme for our 4 year olds, in which they can develop early literacy, numeracy and cognitive skills. This program is developing part of our everday programme of challenge and discovery for all children.
