Under 2's

Babies
Our policy of primary care provides for trusting relationships to develop for child and parent with our teachers. Importance is placed on babies having time to explore through free play in a safe, supportive, calm environment. Care routines are based on the needs of individual children and the wishes of parents and whanau. Staff are always happy to discuss with families any aspect of their child's development, learning and their daily experiences within the centre

The under twos provide a programme which allows children to make their own decisions and set their own problems. Programme planning is based on common themes developed from the children's interests.

Toddlers
Toddlers (18 months to 2 1/2) have special educational needs, which often get overlooked in a busy centre, with the needs of infants and the demands of older children often taking priority. Our new extended transition programme allows for these children to spend time in both the under and over two environments where they are supported to develop the skills and independence required for a smooth transition to the over twos.

   We ensure that our toddlers have the opportunity to enjoy some activities focused at their developmental level without the interference of older children or infants.
